Magnus Berg & Marius Lien Magnus Berg and Marius Lien are two of Norway’s great hopes for the future of blues music and they are already today considered as two of the best guitar players in the country. By the beginning of the autumn of 2023, they were in Nashville and recorded new albums with some of the most profiled session musicians in America. Among them the bass player for Jack White and the drummer for Emmylou Harris. Magnus and Marius have performed on Norwegian stages sin their early teens and are two of the most requested blues musicians in the country. Both have released recordings individually (available on Spotify) but they have now chosen to perform together. At the time of this tour their first album together will be released, and we can at the same time experience them performing together. This is their first tour to Sweden, and we will get to hear both new music, and earlier. The music has many layers, variously melodious, imaginative, and innovative, without being limited by traditional blues patterns. But it ties into the Roots culture, it’s there, and it’s evolving. Magnus and Marius have worked with several Norwegians greats like Vidar Busk, Amund Maarud and Knut Reiersrud, live and at recordings. I August 2023 they made a quick visit to Stockholm and performed at the Stampen Stage, backed by Tommy Moberg and Ubbe Hed. The audience was enthusiastic,” We haven’t heard such guitar playing here since the old mill burnt down in 1944”.
